Hands On Tokyo's Youth Impact is a group of student leaders from high schools and universities in the Greater Tokyo area that empowers and guides young people to realize their potential as empathetic leaders. Through opportunities to create, promote, lead, and participate in Hands On Tokyo activities, they can gain valuable real life experience. This is how Youth Impact is allowing passionate youth in Japan make a positive change within their own community and the world.
While many young people in Japan desire to make a positive change in their communities, the reality is they are not being given enough opportunities to give back. A student may have a great idea to help other people in need, but they lack the resources of connections to make their dream a reality. And now during COVID-19 pandemic, in-person volunteer activities are simply not a safe option.
This project will provide students with professional staff support, while allowing them to contribute to our ongoing projects or hosting their own projects. Students will work on site, and assist with projects, exposing them to the needs of their local communities. We need a way for youth in Japan to realize their social responsibility. By doing so, we will create a new group of young social change agents! This project will cover costs of hosting youth volunteer activities.
With COVID-19, we are utilizing both our talented/tech savvy volunteers as well as the ability to innovate projects during a difficult situation. Even after it is seen as safe to offer in-person projects again, we plan to continue these new projects in addition to the in-person activities that we provided before COVID-19. This project will help to expand the opportunities to allow students to learn the skills, experiences and have resources to make a positive impact on the community.
