Challenge

Although gender equality issues now receive greater issues, globally, women still have less access than men to a quality education, health or fair pay. Women are twice as likely to be a victim of violence / abuse, twice as likely to be illiterate and earn 70 to 90 cents for every 1 dollar a man earns (UN, 2020).

Solution

The project works across regions and countries to support stakeholders and partner organisations in multiple communities to deliver general education support for girls, conduct awareness workshops on topics such as equality, domestic abuse and violence, human trafficking, women's and reproductive health, educational support in literacy and numeracy, and skills developments and income generation workshops covering computer literacy, English Language, leadership and enterprise development.

Long-Term Impact

The project improves gender equality within communities across Latin America, Africa, Asia and the Pacific. The collaborative projects make an immediate impact by improving awareness regarding inequality, violence and abuse, and trafficking, and supplying educational and health support and training. The projects have contributed to supplying 1650 girls, 1125 young women, and 3070 women with educational support and training, including 346 women trained in leadership and 146 receiving support.
