Winning the fight with COVID 19 and moving forward
By Anand Seth - Founder/Chair
How COVID 19 was defeated.
Our schools implemented a five point Covid ASction Agenda and made an opportunity out of the COVID 19 crisis.
Our girls became the instrument of family survival, organizing rations - 1 million meals - to feed their families and communities. As a result, these families are not in financial ruin and the girls are not out on the street. They are less likely to be seen as a liability.
When our schools had to close their doors, they did not give up on our students. Together we moved them into a new digital learning world beyond the classroom, with all 750 girls taking their tablets home to pursue self learning.
Our schools have set up new incentive programs to ensure that our teachers continue to train and excel at new digitalteaching methods, and to ensure that girls stay at school avoiding pressure to leave school and become low wage day earners.
Mothers in the slums who had some education have been mobilized as mentors for the girls motivating them to stay engaged and continue learning.
Yes, costs have gone up. but our girls are as ready as others more fortunate, and full of confidecne to to do well in the upcoming Board exams.
The Year Ahead is about excellence and increasing our footprint in two new schools
Upon return to full time learning at school, girls will be assessed for their leearning levels and offered supplemental tuition and assitance to catch up to grade level as needed.
Our first priority is to help enhance the quality of outcomes. Our 4 current schools which will be pursuing excellence, improving their early childhood programs, seeking better high school outcomes due to a new high school science stream; new teaching methods and well trained teachers. Our schoolswill aim to to place girls into higher earning vocationaland college programs to increase earning potential, while delaying marriage. Enrollment at these schools will also increase by an additional 250 girls.
We will expand our footprint . We have screened the 14 nominated schools for having a vision akin to ours, with strong committed leadership and prospects for a significant and measurable impact from our engagement using the 10 Mantras. One school near Agra and one in Delhi are now developing business plans, specific projects and Key Performance Indicators to start a long term relationship with nearly 300 girls. A relationship built on achieving results.
