The fourth wave of Covid-19 has been the most devastating for our women drivers in Sri Lanka.
Not only have their daily wages been abruptly stopped once again, but the recent food shortage of basic foodstuffs is causing hunger for mums and thier families as this is their staple diet.
As our single parent mums struggle to provide food on the table to feed their hungry children we continue to support with emergnecy food drops, a welcome relief especially to those who live in some of the remotest areas.
Each emergency food parcel delivered contains the following
Red raw Rice 3Kg
White raw Rice 2Kg
Dhal 1kg
Chick Peas 1Kg
Sugar 1Kg
Wheat Flour1Kg
Tea leaves 200g
Full cream milk powder 400g
Breakfast Cereal 400g
Noodles 1 Pkt
Soyameat 200g
Dries sprats (Dried fish) 250g
Chocolate Biscuits 500g
Big Onions 1Kg
Potato 1Kg
Carrot 500g
Green Beans 500g
Green Chilies 200g
Cabbage 500g
Brinjals 500g
Pumpkin 500g
Tomato 500g
Lime 250g
Toothpaste (L)
Washing Powder
Washing soap
Toilet soap
This will feed our driver families for the next month whilst they are waiting for schools to reopen.
School runs are the main source of income for our think pink taxis so we will continue to support until they can get back on the road and become independent once again.
Each food parcel costs just £15 to feed a family for a whole month pleas ehelp support if you are able.
