The village savings and loans project will provide loans to 90 village poor women allowing them to rise out of poverty and hunger, the project will help the poor women to educate their children on the profits from the small businesses that they will have started using the loans,the project will help 90 village poor women save money for future use and the project will mobilize and train village poor women on the benefits of establishing and managing village savings and loans.
The recent increased interests on loans from 5 percent to 10 percent and drought in muramba village left many people in a difficult situation of poverty and hunger, and most of these people are women who depend on loans and agriculture and yet now loans have high interests and seasons do not do well for sustainable harvest.the current loans in village is a private business owned by rich men .Despite the growth of micro finance industry in uganda the industry currently serves people in towns.
The project will give loans to 90 village poor women,allowing them to open up their own small businesses that will act as self help income generating activity from which they will get money to pay school fees,food,medical,water bills and the rest of other needs.
the project will provide loans to 90 poor women, the loans that they will use to start their own small businesses that will help them get out of poverty and hunger and since it is a long term project there is continuous income hence high income multiplier effect to 90 poor women.
