Summary

Partner with us to train Zambian educators from 3 local schools in how to create inclusive classrooms! Special Hope currently runs Community Care Centers that teach parents how to become advocates and educators for their children with disabilities, but our goal is to see local educators welcome and include children with disabilities in their classrooms as well. This project will allow children to learn alongside their peers in disability inclusive classrooms and schools!

Challenge

Imagine a world where most children with an intellectual disability aren't given the opportunity to learn with their peers in local schools. Children are then left at home with nothing to do. Oftentimes marginalized from society. This is a reality for most children with intellectual disabilities in our Zambian community.

Solution

We want to change this reality by training local teachers and school administrators from 3 local schools to educate children with intellectual disabilities and feel confident in the teaching methods that make inclusion possible.

Long-Term Impact

Our mission is to create a world where all children are valued, and in Zambia right now, that's not the case. This project will allow our team to engage with local schools and train Zambian teachers and administrators in how to welcome and educate children with disabilities in their classrooms and schools. As schools become more inclusive, communities will follow, the stigma around disabilities will become less present, and Zambia will be closer to becoming a place where all children are valued!
