Fountain of Hope plans to build knowledge capacity of 5000 girls and 5000 women in ending early child marriage. Will provide secondary school fees and school materials for 5000 school going girls for a year in Dowa District, Malawi. This project provides training in business skills for 5000 women who have school going girls and give start up capital for pigs, chicken production and farm inputs. It has awareness campaigns for entire community members.
Early child marriages is destroying girls lives in Dowa District, Malawi. Girls are forced into early marriages, dropping out from school because of poverty and ignorance of both parents and girls themselves. Fountain of Hope will return girls to school and pay school fees and materials, train women in business skills and provide them with start up business capital, livestock and farm inputs. The project will have awareness campaigns to community members in the area.
Train 25 girls and women as paralegals in support of victims of early child marriages and human rights as peer educators, train in basic human rights and sexual Reproductive health and Rights, Establish 25'Stop Violence Against Women and Girls' clubs, Provide start up inputs, livestock for 500 victims, Pay school fees for 500 victimized girls for 1 year, Media advocacy on girls and women rights, Mass awareness campaign for behaviour change, Production of video documentaries and case studies.
The project will enhance the capacity of 10000 girls and women to stand up in fighting against early child marriages allowing them to rise out of depression, poverty and improve' access to essential education, health and well-being. It will also increase awareness, responsibility, and accountability among target communities where local leader and men will change behaviours towards early child marriages.
