Jinsong and Jinkai
Jinsong and Jinkai

Dear friends of Magic Hospital,

to have one child in hospital is already more than stressful, but to learn that both your young twin boys suffering from a complex congenital heart disease is a bolt of pain and anxiety to any parent.

This was the case of young twin brothers Jinsong and Jinkai from far away Yunnan province. Both children have luckily received excellent treatment for their condition in Beijing's Huaxin hospital, the medical expenses have been funded. The younger twin was still in hospital, but is to be released soon and return home to strengthen. Of course parents, the twins, nurses and all of us from Magic Hospital are overjoyed.

So, now we were thinking what we could do to help their mental healing? Their childhood being put on halt, far away from their family, friends, classmates.

We learned from the nurses in the hospital that their wish is: TO VISIT DINOPARK,  more precisely Lufeng Dinosaur Valley. Check it out on the internet, it's awesome. I have visited it myself, a great park about 1 hour outside of Kunming, the capital of Yunnan.

This is exactly what we are planning to do, via our Abracadabra program. We are in touch with the family, and monitor  the sanitary conditions. So, we will do anything in our power to make their wish to see the dinosaurs come true. We think this could also be a fabulous opportunity to invite their classmater to celebrate the boys return. If all goes well, we hope to organise it before summer. Keep fingers crossed!

On another note; our due diligence application to GlobalGiving has been approved again, so we stay together with you for a while longer.

So we hope in our next report we can tell you their dream has come true. Please stay well, stay with us  and take care of yourself and your loved ones!

Dear MH Hospital friends,

first of all let us wish you an excellent 2022, full of happiness, laughter, quality time with your friends and family, success in all you endevours and of course good health.

As you experience yourself first hand, the current situation remains still a challenge around the globe. This  applies also for our activites in China. Nevertheless, thanks to our wonderful and tireless coordinator Mirjiam Thieme, we can share the following activities and photo with you:

Mirjiam's birthday or gifts for others

Thanks to a bubbly birthday event, participants donations and support from sponsors - Magic Hospital has been able to provide children in Huaxin Hospital with schoolbags and supplies to start their new schoolyear healthy and happily. Nothing better than a smile that says "I'm about to leave the hospital"! The children were recovering from heart surgery and will now go home to further strengthen before the new school year starts. Thank you for your generosity and make your birthday about the children, Mirjiam!

Onwards for the future

On November, 30th we reached out to the global comunity for the 2021 #GIVINGTUESDAY> An exciting event where all eligible donations have a chance to receive a larger portion of this campaign's $1,000,000 incentive fund! We presented our project Be a doctor - send a smile https://www.globalgiving.org/projects/only-cliniclown-program-in-beijing/. We did not achieve our goal, but as we say with the title of our report: Onwards to the next...! We want to thank at this point the donors who have participated>

And last but not least; a Magic Moment

On 20th of December  Santa came with presents for 30 children recovering from heart surgery at Huaxin hospital, right in the season of giving: Puzzles for the young onces, a box with stationary for the older kids. And of course not for forget to thank the dedicated staff who enjoyed their delicious cookies.

Together with you we hope that we can soon go back to our regular activities, stay well and with us till the next update!

Warm greetings

Claudia

Dear all,

we hope that you, your family and friends are keeping well and untouched by this situation.

As you may know prior to the  Covid epidemie we had a weekly team of volunteers going to the Huaxin hospital, for children who have to undergo heart surgery. Unfortunately we are still not allowed back with our play activities but are staying in touch with the hospital staff. This allows us to help in any form we can while our regular activites can be restored.

Nothing better than a smile that says "I'm about to leave the hospital"!

On the photograph you will see children who had been hospitalised in the Huaxin and are recovering from heart surgery. Much to their and our joy some of the children have now been released and return home to recuperate with their families and loved ones before the new schoolyear starts. Magic Hospital has been able to provide the children with new schoolbags and supplies so they can enjoy even more their return to their school and their friends.

On this occassion a big Thank you to you, and also to Miriam who tirelessly runs Magic Hospital activities whereever possible. She has organised a donation event on her own birthday to provide the supplies!

Thank you for your loyalty and steadfast interest!

Best wishes for you and your families!

Claudia

Halloween together
Halloween together

Dear friends of Magic Hospital,

as you know our activities have been limited due to Covid-19 situation. It doesn’t look like this will improve any time soon unfortunately. We are brainstorming and looking for other ideas how we can support hospitalised children and children impacted by the school closures or living in shelters.

Since our last report we have nevertheless managed to organise some activites events which we would love to share with you.

A halloween party with painting in Harry Potter style with the school children and bringing some gifts and jjoy to hospitalised children through gifts from our Abracadbra program.

For Christmas we decided to ask the nurses from the Huaxin Hospital what they need, instead of toys. The answer was diapers. They are so needed as the kids are from poor rural areas and parents have to provide for the supplies, so we can help a little this way. But not to worry, it was not just practical. The nurses put some of the left over presents from the Abracadbra program and slipped them with the diapers under the tree.

Miriam and I want to thank you for your continuous support. Let us l hope we’ll be able to go out there and bring those smiles more often to the children who still need it more than ever!

Stay safe and well!

Best wishes Claudia

Dear MH Community,

we miss you, and hope that you are well, your family and friends included. Covid keeps impacting our lives, and  our Magic Hospital activities.  Our hospital programs Clowns & Co and Playtime are unfortunately still on hold, and for now we have no knowing when we can resume them.

But... thankfully we have our program outdoorsy day. At the moment we can organise them less frequently than we want to but our tireless volunteers were able to provide a fun pottery workshop for and with the children Shunyi  Gucheng school.

A big Thank you to the children, teachers and volunteers who made this memorable day possible.

We share with you some images from that day, and  feel the children's eagerness and enthusiasm sparkle despite the masks!

We plan to be less of a stranger in your mail inbox, and hopefully can organise more of these days again.

Please take care and stay well

Best wishes

Claudia
