Through the microloan program, we provide loans, training, advising to women living in poverty so that they can launch their own small business enterprises and generate extra household income. Our entrepreneurs live in communities with few formal work opportunities, and with additional income these women are better equipped to meet urgent needs such as providing themselves and their children with adequate meals, healthcare, education, and in turn, a more promising future.
Women living in the northern zone of the Greater Buenos Aires region find themselves with less access to the formal economy and formal education opportunities. Without training and/or job opportunities, they are incapable of contributing household income that is greatly needed. Women remain vulnerable and without tools to lift themselves and their families from poverty.
This project will provide microloans to our enterprising women's businesses! Microloans help women buy materials to sew clothing, ingredients to bake cakes, inventory to start a small convenience store, tools to make dolls, and execute so many more unique projects. Our staff help these women develop sound business plans, and our volunteers meet with them every Saturday to make sure they get the support they need and remain on track to repay their loans.
Each woman participating in the program generates her own business plan based on the skills and/or knowledge that she already has or is in the process of developing. These business ideas arise spontaneously from the entrepreneurial women themselves, driven by their desire to prosper. They are invested in improving the lives of their family members, and generating household income will do just that!
