The Aleto Foundation (nee Powerlist Foundation) has developed a generation of over 300 young leaders. They have overcome many adversities to win a place at a prestigious university, but their progress is held back by unequal opportunities and the presence of a confidence deficit which hits some when they enter the workplace. Mentoring is a critical aspect of the success of young people from less privileged backgrounds, as it provides the necessary guidance and insight for future growth.

Young people who advance the furthest in their career all share one characteristic - a strong network of mentors who nurture their professional development. Learning from those who may have been there before, can unlock unforeseen opportunities that have a profound impact on a young person's life. Not surprisingly, successful leaders often turn to others who have relevant experience and wisdom in order to gain new insights and so develop their own capability. More people need access to this

We want to create additional leadership programmes throughout the year which will consist of workshops, mentoring and networking opportunities. We want to develop 1000 leaders by 2020! Our programmes will offer invaluable advice and guidance to young people. They will fortify a larger human capital strategy to develop the best talent from less privileged backgrounds. The #1000by2020 campaign aims to ensure more young people are given the resources to develop their skills and talents.

Long-Term Impact

By 2020, 1,000 young people will benefit from; 1. Networking: To broaden and expand networks and relationships|2. Knowledge and Skill Transfer: Provide opportunities to develop specific skills and abilities |3. Career Development: Gain insight on best ways to enhance career progress |4. Professional Development: Gain "real-world knowledge," learn how to apply academic education to real business issues in a value-added way |5. Situational Guidance: Gain coaching, guidance, and advice.
