The project is aiming to raise awareness and importance of reading books for primary and secondary school with 1,000 children in remote area of Ulaanbaatar, by establishing "Magic Book House" self-learning library at target school.
According to statistical data in 2012, there are 3 million people live in Mongolia, 37.5% is considered as young people from age 15 to 34. One third of the population live in Ulaanbaatar city and 29.8% of them live poor, and 23.5% live below poverty line. According to research analysis, major problems among youth were identified as unemployment, increase of alcohol use, poor education quality, lack of housing, and lack of places to spend free time.
The project is aiming to raise awareness for selected target school children, providing understanding of spending free time effectively by creating self-learning environment through the "Magic Book House" library. Project will work close with target school authorities, teachers and school age children to ensure their active participation in the project activities.
"Magic Book house" library will be established at the target school will ensure sustainability of the project. Children and teachers will be trained to carry on library activities in the future. "Best Reader's Club" will be established among children.
