People in Swat, KPK, Pakistan severely effected by insurgency and huge floods in the near past. Child labour has increased due to extremely low incomes of the families. Improving livelihood of five families would encourage the parents to send the kids to schools, especially the girls. Head of each family will be trained and small grants will be provided to them for opening small businesses and increasing their income on sustainable basis.
Insurgency and floods in the near past badly affected the local businesses. Kids of low income families have started focussing on labour. Improvement in livelihood of marginalized households would encourage the parents to send their kids to schools.
Success in this small intervention will encourage the poor households to send their kids to schools. The same will provide enough bases to demonstrate that "how a child got shifted from a mechanic shop to a school", etc.. Also, improved wealth ranking and literacy rate has inverse relationship with crimes and insurgencies.
- Better economic growth for low income groups in the local communities - Literacy rate will improve - Crime rate will decrease
