Support 20 girls born and living with HIV/AIDS access education and live with dignity. This project will purchase for each girl one bicycle, one year daily supply of lunch, one year supply of sanitary towels, writing books, pens and text books. This will ensure these young girls stay in school, continue their Ante-retro viral therapy, prevent early marriages and unwanted pregnancy, spread of HIV/AIDS and they live with dignity.
Adolescent girls born with HIV are developmentally at a difficult crossroad: their needs for autonomy and independence, risk taking behavior and need to fit with their peers. These girls lack familial and social support, suffer denial and fear of their HIV infection and low self esteem compounded by poverty. These results in unstructured and chaotic lifestyles leading to non-adherence to medical regimens, early marriages, early pregnancy and school drop out.
This project will ensure provision of information and options to enable girls to make informed choices; psycho-social and spiritual support; reduce stigma and discrimination through community sensitization; support to improve dignity; and support their education.
We will support 20 girls born and living with HIV/AIDS with their education this will ensure increased adherence to treatment regimen; reduced stigma and discrimination against persons living with HIV/AIDS; access to good quality education; decrease in risky behavior and spread of HIV/AIDS and improved dignity in lives of orphans and vulnerable children
