The emergency response efforts of GlobalGiving and Global Peace Foundation Philippines to hundreds of families affected by Typhoon Ulysses is a substantial relief assistance and an impactful project that empowers and assisted them in their efforts to recover and rebuild their lives from the disaster. Beyond disaster recovery, GlobalGiving and GPF Phils empower Agta tribal communities on an on-going basis to support their own efforts to flourish and be sustainable.
Through the seminar and training conducted by the local government of Sanchez Mira, it helped them increase the degree of self-determination in order to enable them to represent their interests in a responsible and self-determined way while acting on their own authority. Agta tribe families residing at Purok 4, barangay Langagan, Sanchez Mira, Cagayan were happy and grateful with all the gifts they received like the solar lamps, water container, disaster kits, food packs and others. These pieces of blessings helped them realize some of their dreams in life. A 67 years old, widow, is one of the beneficiaries of the emergency response. Four of her grandchildren stay with her and she testified that the gifts she received are great blessings for them. The solar lamp helped them a lot, they could breathe fresh air and could save money from not buying kerosene, they could come together and enjoy eating in a bright dining table and helped them do some household chores at night easier.
A Grade 7 granddaughter became more enthusiastic in her studies, with the help of solar lamp she can do her written works and performance task even at night.
The youngest grandson was happier to have a safe and more convenient water container that he can manage in getting his drinking water.
These gifts of service from the GlobalGiving and GPF Philippines gave the people more positive outlook in life to work harder, do greater and aim higher and to hope for a brighter future.
