The effects of violence and aggression of Cameroon military,on Separatists and Boko Haram attack has force over 18,00 people to flee to the two communities in Cross River and Akwa Ibom states. Atabong fishing Community comprising of 9 villages and EneOkong fishing community consisting of 5 villages in Bakassi. They now become internally display people. Mostly, children and women suffered greatly from various form of rapes/abuses. This has led to increasing numbers of women living with HIV/AIDS .
The two fishing coastal communities were selected because of high level of Cameroun military aggression on the separatists groups and Boko Haram attacks in the Southern region of the country. This has caused hundreds of thousands of to flee to IDPs camps in Nigeria (Cross River And Akwa Ibom States). There is an out -break of cholera in the IDPs camps. Over 89% of them have malaria . Women and children are mostly affected. Again, high illiteracy, school drop-out, rapes/abuses, acute poverty
The solutions, objectives and impacts The integrated and holistic approach to the problems detailed above is the most effective solution to the issues. The project seek to provide water purification tablets, provision good health care unit, provision of 5 school classrooms in each of the communities, provision of basic school materials (pens, uniforms, school bags, note/text books, sandals), provision of 3 nutritious meals for children,alternative source of income for women.
Expected Long-Term Impact 870 children (age 0-6) will get a positive start for their overall development through starting their education through attending pre-school. 28 Pre school centres will be run. These children will get regular health check ups and will get supplementary nutrition so there will be no child in the 2nd or 3rd grade of malnutrition. 9,875 children will be healthy through having improved hygiene and access to basic health care services.
