This project will address challenges faced by orphans and vulnerable children at the grassroots through the purchase of text books, constructing a 1 x 3 classroom which will have 2 fold answers which are; to have more OVCs access quality education; decongest the number of learners per class . Also improving quality of learning in a good learning environment by drill a borehole for the 574 OVC's at the centre and motivating teachers with incentives aimed at improving good service delivery.
HIV/AIDS being the major challenges has made a great number of children orphans in Zambia. The impact of the HIV/AIDS pandemic has become an issue of not only health, but of cross-sectional importance affecting orphans and vulnerable children. The destruction of human capital and its impact on the most vulnerable children has been a threat to Zambian developmental programmes such as providing Education for all (EFA) as many children have no access to quality education as it supposed to for all
Ituna Orphans and Vulnerable children have been working at the grassroots level where Children are becoming the head of the household in many families after the death of their parents. They are taking on the responsibilities of parents and have to leave their childhoods behind instead of being in school. Ituna has developed a strategic implementation the programme the provision of education support aimed at improving quality of life to the most disadvantaged children at the grassroot level.
The project will provide educational support to 574 Orphans and Vulnerable Children and in return helping them to raise their standards of living instead of continued living in poverty. The provision of education will enable the most vulnerable children to contribute the community development in behavior change and attitudes among adolescents towards their own lives. Ituna will also providing counselling and guidance to the vulnerable children in society to enable them make informed choices.
