In the last 4 years Green Line Albania as initiator of Let's Clean Albania in One Day Civic Movement, managed to organise 7 national cleanup actions in Albania. We engaged more than 1.000.000 volunteers, by bringing together communities, students, volunteers, central and local government, business community, media and many other stakeholders & collecting 60.000 tons of urban waste. All this cleanup actions have served as a factor of change in Albania, addressing the Trash Culture in all levels!
Albania is a beautiful country, but we are trashing it everyday. There is currently a dramatic environmental situation in Albania. Illegal dumpsites, hazardous and medical waste in public spaces, around city centres, rural areas, along rivers and coastline, are affecting the communities in every city of Albania. Trash Culture is having a direct negative impact in public health, better living and in social and economic growth in every sector.
Digital Trash Mapping will create a detailed picture of the environmental situation. This map will serve as the main tool to identify the challenges and bring up the solutions. It will be used to organise the cleanup actions, bringing together communities improving environmental situation & educating youngsters through actions. It will serve as a powerful tool in the hands of authorities, citizens, volunteers, NGO's, educational institutions & communities to become active part of the solution.
This project will strongly improve environmental situation in Albania, especially in better waste management, raise social inclusiveness and environmental education. Redefining public policies, by bringing together all stakeholders to work toward a sustainable National Strategy on How To Clean Albania and it will shape the path towards a Clean and Green Albania.
