Today, digital inclusion is an indispensable tool in the fight against rural poverty in Africa and for the socio-professional integration of rural youth. Digital inclusion does not only mean having access to the web but knowing how to use it constructively by means of critical thinking. The project will install computer labs in ten agricultural schools in Cameroon and support training for their teachers.
Information is power. Cameroon's rural population lives in poverty and many discouraged young people migrate because of the lack of future perspectives. The project will enable youth and their communities to have meaningful access to information and training by using the internet. Media literacy is important to ensure that young people are not manipulated and develop critical thinking.
To support schools to install computer labs and to give access to pertinent information as well a train teachers to teach young people how to properly use the potential of the web and create their own projects.
Once the computer labs are installed and the teachers trained, the project will train 1,200 students per year. The students develop professional projects by the end of their studies. These skills will support them to become successful rural entrepreneurs.
