Watch the joy of those who overcame the new variant and let’s share the hope. With great happiness, the health staff working at SEMA’s Idleb Isolation Hospital received the news of the recovery of the 75-year-old woman, Fatima, and the young man, Ismail after they had been infected with the new Delta Variant, the disease which is known for its highly pathogenicity and contagiousness. The recovery of the elderly woman in particular has given a new dose of hope for those infected with the virus in northern Syria.
The high recovery rates from the new variant were preceded by intensive care and a large quantity of medical consumables, which were given in abundance to the infected patients, and this has depleted our resources, specifically the oxygen.
Our campaign continues to provide more oxygen and hope. Join us!
With the increased number of infections from the new Delta Variant, we launched a new campaign two months ago, and, thanks to your support, we were able to secure 25,000 US dollars, and expand our services to treat hundred of new patients and save their lives.
While tens of recovered patients are daily discharged from our facilities, we still lose many lives. This loss would have been definitely doubled without your lifesaving support.
We have now an occupancy rate of 100% in the beds of the isolation and intensive care departments, and our staff exert relentless efforts to save lives. Your role is as important as the role of the medical staff; therefore, we seek your help to enable us to continue and overcome the hard times we face in light of the pandemic.
Sarah is an elderly woman who has got a new life after facing difficult days in Idleb Isolation Hospital while struggling with the emerging Delta virus. The elderly woman, in her seventies, could hardly breathe and she suffered many painful memories. “I could not sleep on my back for days, and I completely lost my appetite for food. I was unable to get up without help; I lost my whole strength," she explained, “but the treatment and good health care really saved my life”.
Sarah along with 259 recovered cases had received the necessary medical care in our hospitals to overcome the COVID-19 disease, thanks to your exceptional response and support in these most difficult circumstances.
Unfortunately, not all people were lucky enough to survive, as we lost seven of our patients last week, bringing the total number of deaths to 2,191.
While the occupancy rate is 100% in our intensive care beds, we still need your support to continue to save more suffocating Delta Variant patients.
We are waiting for you to help them recover, improve their health and reduce the number of deaths.
When infected with the Corona virus or the mutated Delta, the patient will suffer from mild respiratory symptoms, but when the elderly are infected, they will need intensive care in the hospital, especially in the case of chronic diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, heart disease and cancer. In order to publish safety and prevention recommendations the community health teams at SEMA are doing awareness tours for the elderly in Camps...
Thank you for your support for this campaign, because of its great impact in saving the lives of patients, by constantly raising awareness and treating them.
Our campaign may not keep pace with the speed of the virus spread in Northern Syria, but together we can contain the suffocating humanitarian crisis. Your decision to give means literally saving a suffering soul.
