Challenge

One in three infants in Vietnam suffer from stunted growth due to malnutrition. Besides this, mothers in rural communities often have less knowledge about childhood illnesses, how to prevent them and how to act when they occur. This project will affect 780 young mothers and their infants in the rural communities of the Quang Nam province to provide them with adequate resources to combat infant malnutrition, disease and their consequences in infants.

Solution

Children's Hope in Action will organize seminars to teach young mothers about the importance of breastfeeding and nutritious meals for their infants to prevent malnutrition and its consequences. Furthermore, mothers will receive a lecture from a healthcare professional who will explain to them what diseases can occur in infants and how mothers should act. The infants will be weighted and measured. The mothers will also be taught to share their knowledge with their family, friends and neighbors.

Long-Term Impact

The project will educate 780 young mothers to provide nutritious meals for their infants to combat malnutrition. The project will also teach 780 young mothers about childhood illnesses, which will lead to less infantile deaths. Hopefully the project will be sustainable by the information transfer we highly recommend the mother to perform so that more people in their communities can benefit from the project.
