Closer to the goal

Greetings Dear Donor.  Thank you very much for trusting our social initiative. Our labor is possible thanks to the contributions from good-hearted people like you.

This and all the reports to follow will update you on our progress and how your donation is been invested aiming to benefit thousands of people living in Veron  and other deprived communities of the province, who can not access ophthalmological services given their limited economic resources. Many of them are at risk of blindness due to treatable visual diseases

The construction of the facilities is completed (we mean the first stage of the project), it was stopped due to the Covid 19 pandemic and the restrictive measures imposed by the Dominican government to stop its spread.

We are currently focused on equipping the clinic areas and the staffing as well (We hope to finish this process in first quarter of 2021) in order to inaugurate the center on the first quater of 2021 and start offering the outpatient consultations services.

Please see the pictures attached.

The signing of the collaboration agreement with the Ministry of Health (regarding the assignment of some personnel and others) has been slowed down due to the change of government in the DR

Meanwhile, a part of the facilities is being used (temporarily) as a pandemic prevention center in La Altagracia province, as a way to collaborate with the health strategies of the Ministry of Public Health of the Dominican Republic.

We will keep you informed about the progress of the project. If you have any comment, advice or question, please feel free to direct them to us and we will answer as best we can.

These are hard times, but better times will come !

We hope to continue partnering with you. Again, thank you very much !

All the best,

All medical services are available

Dear Donor, please receive a warm greeting. We want to take the time to sincerely thank you for your donation to this project. . As you know, we started this fundraiser to provide a quality health center to the disabled children of the deprived communities of the La Altagracia province and your contribution helps us get one step closer to our goal.

One of the best ways to help children with special needs is to be kind. As you get to know them, they may help you understand what it's like to be in their situation. And you will be helping to fill a very special need, one that we all have: the need to have good friends.

Another way to help them is to contribute to causes that seek their well-being, and that is precisely what you do !

During its first phase, the center is offering specialized medical services to boys and girls from 0 to 12 years old diagnosed with down syndrome, autism and cerebral palsy;

Given the gradual normalization that is taking place in the country, all the services are currently available, but still complying with the health and safety protocols to prevent covid-19 contagious.

Currently, about 70 patients are being treated weekly. The most common health conditions are autism, physical disability, language and learning disorders

Services available from 8 am. at 4 pm. from Monday to Friday:

  • Social work.
  • Pediatrics and Nutrition
  • Psychological evaluations (over 5 years old).
  • Early Care Assessment (under 5 years old)
  • Psychometric test.
  • Psychiatry
  • Neuropsychology
  • Family therapy
  • Group Therapy.
  • Behavioral Therapy.
  • Early Care Therapy.
  • Speech therapy

On the other hand (and as part of our training program) the nutritionist of the center participated in a virtual training taught by Unicef DR on the diagnosis of acute malnutrition.

Please see the pictures attached to this report.

There are still many needs to meet in terms of equipment (for example video-electroencephalogram, electric treadmill), staff training and supplies. We look forward to strength our alliance in order to achieve these goals together

We will keep you informed about the progress of the project. If you have any comment, advice or question, please feel free to direct them to us and we will answer as best we can.

There is no way to fully express our gratitude for your support

Best wishes,

Fifteenth Graduation Ceremony

Fifteenth graduation ceremony
Fifteenth graduation ceremony

Dear donor, please accept our heartiest greeting.  Thank you for your donation, we are thrilled to have your support. Through your donation we have been able to accomplish many goals and continue working towards to offering an affordable and quality education that fosters the professional and personal development of the young beneficiaries. You truly make the difference for us, and we are extremely grateful!

I am delighted to share with you these 3 pictures of the 15th Graduation Ceremony of the school which took place in the last October.  68 youth were graduated from high school and some students and teachers were awarded for their performance.

The Principal of the school expressed his satisfaction for the achievements of the last school year and exhorted the graduates to never forget the human values that were instilled in them.

Given the current circumstances, we decided to do a short and very simple ceremony. In fact, we had two ceremonies (one in the morning and the other in the afternoon), it is that to say that the graduates and their closest relatives were divided into two groups as part of the safety protocols. But it was still very meaningful and emotional, as always.

In the other hand, the 2020-2021 school year has begun.  Nowadays the parents, students, teachers and the administrative staff are focused on it.

The continuation of the suspension of face-to-face teaching in our country, due to the isolation measures imposed by the Government to counteract the spread of covid-19, gave way to the continuation of the virtual education, following the guidelines of the Ministry of Education. Students and teachers, through the virtual classroom are developing the educational curriculum from their homes. This new modality (distance learning) continue representing a great challenge to the educational community, but all is going well fortunately

If it hadn't been for the technology training program that we have implemented for years, it would have been difficult for teachers and students to embrace the distance learning.

In the upcoming months we will keep you updated on the progress of our project. If you have any comment, advice or question, please let us know and we will respond as best we can.

These are hard times but “United we are Stronger”, better times will come !

Thank you very much again for your support, we truly appreciate it !

Best wishes !
