Senior Associate, Corporate Grant Programs

In this position, you will have the opportunity to independently oversee the implementation of diverse grantmaking programs and strengthen GlobalGiving’s position as a leader in the philanthropic space. You will nurture and deepen our strategic partnerships with corporate institutions. And you will help center GlobalGiving’s grants management in trust-based practices rather than on a compliance-based model.

Primary Responsibilities

Program Ownership

  • Support relationship management of assigned institutional donors. Orient these partners to applicable regulatory requirements for intermediary grantmakers and provide strategic grantmaking advice in line with philanthropic best practices;
  • Successfully implement programmatic scopes of work. Manage changes throughout the grant program, working in close coordination with Business Partnerships colleagues to address changes in scope;
  • Collaborate with appropriate internal and external stakeholders to facilitate seamless use of relevant grantmaking tools and processes;
  • Resolve or escalate issues of concern as raised by corporate partners, GlobalGiving grantees, or internal stakeholders in a timely and proactive manner;
  • Create or oversee the development of external facing resources, including corporate partner reports, to support program implementation.

Grants Oversight

  • Oversee assigned, corporate grant program portfolios in accordance with relevant policies and procedures. Orient grantees through online presentations, proactively coaching them through GlobalGiving’s due diligence and custom grants processes;
  • Monitor grantee compliance with grant terms; identify and track issues, should they arise, and resolve or escalate issues of concern to senior grants management, as appropriate;
  • Responsible for core grants management duties, such as: reviewing and assessing grant proposals, grant agreement development, facilitating disbursements, report reviews and providing day-to-day grantee support;
  • Create or oversee the development of custom, grantee-facing programmatic guides or resources;
  • Provide guidance and coaching to Grants Management Assistants to ensure consistent, quality support for corporate-referred grantees, as appropriate.

Philanthropic Knowledge Development and Management

  • Identify and contribute to opportunities for improved knowledge management policies, practices, systems and processes;
  • Participate in ongoing efforts to develop and improve grantmaking policies, workflows and procedures;
  • In partnership with senior grants staff, help develop new grant service offerings that enhance corporate partners’ philanthropic impact and contribute to community-led change;
  • Prepare and conducts training on selected grants management topics for team colleagues and wider, organizational staff, as needed;
  • Represent the Grants Team and its interests on ad hoc, cross-functional initiatives within the organization;
  • Represent GlobalGiving by participating in conferences, gatherings, professional associations and other external events; stay abreast of industry trends, best practices in grantmaking, and emerging learning opportunities.

Required Qualifications

For our team to be a great fit for you, the following qualifications should resonate with you:

  • 3+ years professional experience in the philanthropic sector, preferably at a grantmaking institution
  • Demonstrated knowledge of United States IRS guidelines for public charity or private foundation charitable giving
  • An understanding of and ability to talk about risk management, compliance, and mitigation.
  • Program management expertise, as seen in
    • A history of delivering successful programs; or
    • Responsibility for a large portfolio of grant awards; or
    • Success with tools to define programmatic objectives and milestones; or
    • Professional project management experience.
  • Able to work with minimal management oversight and be comfortable taking initiative and managing their time effectively.
  • Experience working at a technology-enabled organization, especially with grants management software and/or project management software.
  • The ability to communicate ideas effectively, to listen to others' ideas, and to collaborate to arrive at great solutions.

Salary Range

Starting salary range: $50k to $60k.


This is a full-time position reporting to the Manager of Global Grant Programs and will be filled remotely for the duration of the COVID-19 pandemic. Once in-office operations can safely resume, this role can either be based in GlobalGiving’s headquarters in Washington, D.C. or continue to operate remotely.
